Krappy Guitars

Anyone here own or play any of Kevin Seibold's rather unique creations?

You gotta love a luthier who doesn't take himself too seriously, makes some fun novelty instruments but can also turn out some serious ones (see the Touch Guitar section).

As for me, I'm now taking delivery of a Twiggy 4 electric upright bass he built for me.

C'mon folks, you can admit it here-----------

Just read their manifesto

'Our warranty: There is no warranty, expressed or
implied. We fully acknowledge our product is crap, and
your purchase signifies that you have entered into an
agreement to buy a product that is lacking in quality,
contains poor materials, and is worthy of much abuse
and destruction. We will in no way provide any
customer service, so don't even waste your time!!!'

Love it

Re: Krappy Guitars

I can't hold it in any longer

That stuff looks awful! The shapes, the craftsmanship, the hardware, it all looks terrible.

I'm not sorry, that stuff is Busch league

That's apparently what he's going for, though.

Re: Krappy Guitars

I can't talk about the guitars but that's one Krappy site alright :9:

Tell us how it'll go man :)

Re: Krappy Guitars

Maybe I can get him to make me an aluminum guitar with 29 frets, and 5 more whole tone frets after that, and 8 strings...

Re: Krappy Guitars

It's like the difference between movies...some aspire to be A movies, and end up B. Some movies start out to be B, and succeed wildly. This is kinda like that.

The double-neck mando/cittern is interesting, not cause I would buy this one, but cause the idea's great!!

Dude!!!

Kevin's one of my favorite peoples!

He lives about 20 minutes away... and lest anyone thinks its all a joke, the guy's a SUPER bad-azz guitarist & actually pretty serious in a ludicrous way. Plays a lot of jazz/funk stuff... 6-sting and Chapman Stick as well.

Check this out, his son who's about 10 or 11 made the video...

Or his old band the Roamin Garbriels; Organ, guitar & drums ~ live chicken fingers!

hahahaha

I have to have him build me a stick one of these years...

And here it is, with yours truly and my alter-ego:

First impressions, this thing has got a GRRRRRRRRROWWWLLL to it for sure. Great tone, well built, action is a little higher than a bass guitar but that's part of the character of electric uprights, it allows the strings to vibrate and slap against the fingerboard, giving it that unique character.

Re: Krappy Guitars

You know there was an article somewhere about a luthier that made a guitar out of a table he bought from IKEA :9:
He put all of his skill and attention to make it as perfect as possible and according to him the results were great playability (albeit with "unique" looks) and a wicked cool tone.

Obviously his point was that you don't need expensive and exotic wood to make a great guitar.

I kinda think that this guy as well tries to show the same :)

Re: Krappy Guitars

I'll say it... they are all Krap!

:D

I like some of them.
