Has anyone tried these before? What is the verdict on these little monsters? 5W tube amp under $100 looks appealing

Re: Kustom - The Defender

I love it. Kicks the ass of the Marshall Class 5 for sounding as good and maybe a little better, ease of use, the blue light, and being 1/4 the price. Drove my 412s like gangbusters. My old one is sitting down there. Next time I'm there with $99 of mad money it's coming back home.

awesome value, charm, and personality

Re: Kustom - The Defender

Thats a nice little amp. I think itd be a great practice amp. Kustom has always had very Fenderesque cleans and good build qulaity.
I'd like to have one.

Re: Kustom - The Defender

The Defender lives up to The Pact (Vengeance).

Defender clip

$99.

WoaH!

this dude starts shredding and melting faces thru this lil 99 dollar amp yo!

those others mentioned ain't the same at all.

Re: Kustom - The Defender

After hearing the clips, I think I'll pass. I much prefer my old olid State Kustom V lead.
Its too thin/ buzzy.
Thats even w/ the 4x12.
I like the low volume cleans though-just not enuf to shell out 99 bucks.
YMMV
Just my 'pinion ya unnerstan.

Re: Kustom - The Defender

I don't think this lil Defender 5H was designed to be a studio solution Jer. It's cute, cheap, attractive, ya keep it on the shelf next to the whatever, with a cute speaker you found for it that matches up, and it just is, and it's easy and convenient and has a pleasing crunch. I got it sounding good with several speakers but I agree those are crappy sounding clips of a $99 amp into equally cheap cabinets. 2 pieces of NOS glass in that Defender and a single Greenback would be killer as hell.

I'll give you that!

Re: Kustom - The Defender

I got one this past christmas to use out in my shop.
I have it paired with a 1 x 10 cab housing a Weber Sig 10. After a couple of months now I still like the heck outta it. I have a Boss DS-1 in front of it.
The best $90.00 I've spent in a long time.
