Laney - I LOVE IT !!!

So I got it, I am back in the saddle after 5 year break. Laney Tuber-Pro AOR series, I got it. With Mesa Boogie EL34 and one Sovtek EL34 and Chinese 12ax7 preamp tubes. Another mod is that capacitors (or caps) were swapped for improved caps that gave the amp more balls and more "headroom" -- to make the amp less buzzy. I played it with my Invader HM MIA Strat through a TS9 reissue modded by STRUTDELUXER. Man, I never had so much tone in my life. And the guy just screwed with EQ panel I didn't touch it. I LOVED IT so clean, crunch is so "sandy-small grain" that presence nob just rules. I am in to classical/power metal with a Blackmore/Malmsteen/Lynch fetish that thing just worked for me, so I got it for $400. What do you think good deal ?

Cool amp, nice price. You really shouldnt be calling the tubes in the thing a mod though.

If changing tubes was a mod then nearly every amp in the world would be modded.

Re: Laney - I LOVE IT !!!

Laneys are awesome amps, I've got a VC50 2x12, shimmering cleans and a huge sounding gain channel

my friend has a LC30 class A, the cleans are awesome, gain channel abit flubby though youd expect that

GH are single channel amps with footswitchable gain boost.

Not all of them, only the GH50L and GH100L, the GH100TI is a single channel amp with the 5th gain stage permanently engaged, plus it has some extra switches called "bright" and "bass", but not a 'drive' switch like the two others. ;)

It's alright, it's the least talked about of the GH series, and I think it's probably one of the least talked about Laney valve amps generally, but I don't know.

Nice amp. Laney's are pretty underrated IMO.

To be honest, I've never heard something that was recorded with a laney suck.

They always seem to sound good. I might look into one eventually, if I don't end up building my own amp.
