Laney VC50 clips (it's a VH100R combo)

How in the world did you find one down under? :laugh2: Sounds pretty similar to mine, but you got some major treble and highs.. using stock speakers? Look in my sig for what i use, I find it works best.

Lol, I'd say we'd have just about as many VC50's floating around as you folk below the little ol' Mason-****son line :D.

Any clips? Looks like your setup is geared a little differently to mine. I'm done with actives and distortion pedals though I'm not sure if I should grab a 2x12 or 4x12. Have you tried a 4x12 cab with yours?

Cheers StrangeSound, I'd say around shouting level. It has a roaring 80's Marshall feel to it at low vol. I saw an old friend's cover band a couple of weeks ago and his tone was awesome with just a JCM800 and quad, an analog delay and 2 x GE-7's as his boost/s.

I dont have decent enough recording gear.. im planning to change that though. What did you use to record this? You captured the sound pretty well..

Anyhow, I dont like EMG pickups through the laney all that much, but it does give it a kick. I still like passives with the SD1 as a boost. Very organic, and the SD1 makes it feel better to the fingers, and beefs the sound up a bit. I strongly recommend trying an OD pedal for a boost. I run two eminence V12s in my Splawn cab right now, and that tames the highs big time compared to when the combo had two celestion G12-T75s (talk about horrible tone). What speakers are you using in the combo? Still havent tried it through a 4x12, but having a good close back cabinet will improve the low end x100000000. So basically, try an OD pedal, and try it through a good closed back cab.
