Laney VH100R vs Orange Rockerverb 100H Mk II?

Entangled

My search for a new amp for doom influenced (slightly) post-metal is coming to an end (Russian Circles, Pelican, Elder type of sound), I've finally narrowed it down to two amps: Laney VH100R and Orange Rockerverb 100H Mk II. If anyone has experience with both, I'd be very curious to hear your opinions, especially in the context of the type of music I play. Peace

The specific bands you mention call for an Orange, or a 90s Sunn model T reissue you can find one. Laney's sound is more of a thrashy deathy black metal kinda vibe to me, whereas a Rockerverb has a thick, heavy, warm distortion that's great for heavier rock and lots of metal sounds, too.

I wouldn't limit my choices to that specific Orange, either. I'd bet the original Rockerverb becomes one of those rare collectable amps one day, and the AD and OR series heads are great for the heavy too. I haven't tried a Dual Dark yet but I've only heard good things. At the end of the day you will probably want at least 4 or 5 different amps anyway.... :smokin:

Thanks for the reply! Sunn model T is near unobtainable in Poland, and crazy expensive even if available. Keep'em coming, guys!
