Laney VH100r, what cab?

hey guys.. i think im gonna get a laney vh100r soon but im not sure what cab to get for it. i'm thinking about just getting its matching cab, it omes with seventy 80 speakers.. are these speakers good? what kind of sound to they give oppsed to g12t-75's? also, what do you guys think of the vh100r?

Glad to see you joining the Laney family. I love the vh-100R, it can do all styles of music extremely well. I use mine with a homemade 4x12 with eminence v-12's and black powders and a homemade 2x12 with texas heats in it. I have also used it through a basson 4x12 and will soon be getting one of those because it really helps get the amp's tone through. I have not used it with any of the newer laney cabs with the celestions. I can say that it sounded very good through one of the older laney 4x12's that had the HH invaders in it. However the basson really helps accentuate the low end whereas the laney cab was more treble oriented.

I know krank revolution cabs have them but those are expensive. The basson cabs use legend 125's which are a cross between a v12 and a texas heat. Not really sure what other cabs use them stock but I bet you can find some.

if I remember right the Iommi's have 70/80's in them as well. I've seen many bands use the Vh/Gh series with a Laney TT cab because it has the vintage 30's though. That might be a good option to consider. I know Opeth uses one of each laney cab (the standard straight and the TT straight).

Stay away from T75s, those will kill you. When i had the combo i used the V12s in my Splawn, and worked very well. If you gig or play in a band i would go for a governor and a v12, or something like that to give you more cut. If you REALLY want to cut, then you can use a T75 or 2, but beware!

Yeah, I am thinking of Iommi's cabs too, G12-75s are just not it for AOR or for me, I am just wondering what would be the actual difference between my JCM900 1960A with V30 in it and an Iommi's cab?

hmm.. what about the Genz Benz G-flex? What kind of speakers does it have? i've heard good things about this cab and the dealer that carries laneys also carries genz benz
