laptop sound cards?

so what options for cards do i have, outside of the creative soundblaster cards?

if i do everything through a usb interface, would i still need a soundcard for high quality audio/ handling the higher sampling rates??

also, anyone know of any good laptops for audio processing? im not against a macbook, but if the mac os is the only reason to get one, then thats out of the question, because i wouldnt use it.

im looking basically for a reliable notebook, with a good processor, and hopefully WITHOUT built in webcam and wireless internet (although im sure thats impossible, because the idiots that make electronic devices LOVE adding useless bells and whistles that piss me off more than anything)
