Last decision! Bridge PUP to pair with APH-1N?

OK, I'm almost done with the moneysaving, so I'm gonna order my new set soon... but I'm feeling a bit unsure about my selection, so I'd like some more advice.

I want to use an Alnico II Pro on the neck (that's deffinitive), and thought about a JB for the bridge. Some doubts have come to my mind, tho... Listening to GN'R for a while, I regained my love for the APH bridge sound. But I'm afraid that it couldn't do it for heavier stuff (Metallica & friends).

So... what's the best choice to pair with an APH-1N and get an ax capable of covering lots of ground (from Pop to Thrash)? The JB? Another APH-1? Some other pickup? Please help me choose!

I don't think you can go wrong with a JB. Very versitile, seems to be what your looking for. Custom is another option as well, but I'd recommend the JB.

i paired mine with a Custom Custom bridge- it's capable of metal definitely, & then some... one of the surprises was that immaculate cleans, a very convincing jazz comping tone with the tone-knob turned down.

I'd go with a bridge APH-1 and a Boss DS-1 overdrive pedal. Or a Custom Custom. Personally, I'd go for another alnico 2 pickup for the bridge pickup. Lew

Custom Custom... it will cover the most ground... or possibly a Custom 5

I firmly beleive that the APHn and CC should be sold as a set. They work great together, both outputwise and in their EQ.

I like the C5 and CC with the Alnico II Pro. My Brian Moore came with a JB.Alnico II Pro combo that sounded pretty nice.....I think the CUstoms were a nicer fit.

I then discovered Fralin but that is another matter....

Another vote for CC or C-5. CC has warmth, power, and good tone.
C-5 has tight low end, neutral mids, and vintage highs.
Great clarity in clean, midgain, and highgain.

I think I'd try the CC first.

The APH bridge can certainly do metal, with the right amp. If you want a little more punch I'd also suggest the CC. I've had it in a guitar for quite a while now paired with an APH neck and it is wonderful.

I've never gotten along with the JB, but plenty of folks like it.

The CC. The CC and the APH are like peas and carrots!!

Re: Last decision! Bridge PUP to pair with APH-1N?

By now, things are going this way:

APH-1B: 2 votes
JB: 1 vote
Custom Custom: 9 votes!
Custom 5: 2 votes

So... we've got a winner?
