Last In Line DIO cover

Just a little cover version we're working on at the Ripper Owens forum. I've done all the guitars, bass and drums for now, although other guys from the forum are going to be doing their parts when they get time.
The vocals were by Javier de la Cruz from the forum.
It's just a first version, we need to mess around with it, but it sounds okay for now. The guitar solo was just a one take ad-lib, I will never in a million years be able to play Viv's solo, but I will record something better than this eventually. Probably.

Please comment on the Myspace page guys, if you like it. If you don't, f**k off! :beerchug:

Cool. It sure makes you appreciate a 67 year old man's ability to bust those high notes huh?

Out of most of the forum members, I most wish it was you that lived close enough to go to the Dio Memorial on Sunday. At least you'd truly appreciate it like I do. I'll try and get as many photos as possible, so stay tuned. At least it's the next best thing to being there.

Thanks man. It might be an odd thing to say, but I hope everyone enjoys it. It should be a celebration of a talented man's life, not a downer. I just hope those bible thumpers don't ruin it.

The singer on that cover can really scream, but he said he really struggled just to sing that song normally because Dio had such a powerful voice. Anyone who's ever tried singing along to a Rainbow or Dio song will know what he means. :arg:

Maybe it's just me, but nothing sounds like it's in time with each other. I can't quite put my finger on it.

No I know what you mean, it sounded even worse when I originally had two seperate guitar tracks.
I think it stems from the fact I'm just learning the drums so it throws everything else out a bit.
But yeah, I do get you and thanks for being honest. I'm hoping we can get it tighter once the other guys do their parts, but, if not...never mind, it's not serious anyway. :beerchug:

Re: Last In Line DIO cover

Nice copy, D! I love this song. I remember in the 80s trying to get my band to play it, but the singer couldn't handle the vocals, ha ha. This singer may not be able to hit the notes, but he did a really good job of making it rock within his range, which is all that us mortals can do when trying to sing like Dio, Dickinson, Halford, etc. Tough stuff to try to sing.

EDIT: What is this "I Am The One" that followed? Sounds great.

Thanks a lot man! "I Am The One" is a song I wrote as a tribute to Tim Ripper Owens. The singer was another guy from that forum. He wrote the lyrics.
I did all the music for it. :1:
