Life got pretty crazy-busy lately so I haven't been able to build as much as I would've liked. However, I managed to finish one this week.
It's a Big Muff derivative that has gotten rave reviews with the doom/sludge/stoner crowd. Should be pretty obvious from the control layout and "artwork" theme what it's a clone of. I like it but, IMHO, 90% of these tones are contained within a "regular" big muff. I was pretty unimpressed at first, many options but nothing that can be adjusted on the fly during a gig (switching between diodes makes for a big volume difference, same goes for the input impedance switch) and I just thought it was an overpriced fancy clone. Still, after playing a bit more with it, it's quite nice. It's worth much more than your regular muff but not to the point of being ridiculously overpriced like some obvious boutique derivatives out there. All in all a nice pedal if you want a bit more flexibility than a regular BMP.
Etching in the winter isn't easy, even if I put my etchant basin in a warm water basin to keep it from getting too cold (I etch outside of course, no volatile acids in the house...). Add to this the fact that my etchant was probably a bit old and you get a pretty shallow etch in the end.
I wasn't inspired at all when I drew this one. It's pretty bleh but hey, it's still fun. I should've put a border around it an maybe more stuff but I really didn't have any idea when I was sitting in front of it.
Yellow led, green paint in the etch (which needs to be just in the right light to show, otherwise looks grey. I'll keep that in mind for narrow-lined designs next time).
Hope you like...
