Re: learning how to drum: what video lessons? what forums? Advice?

Theres tons of this online and on the ol Youtube. Find a channel you like and go for it...start basic. Nothing worse than a drummer with all flash but can't keep time

cool thanks for the encouragement bro :beerchug:

I was looking at some videos early this morning, real eye opener as technique really is king for beginner drummers like me

There are some great basic tutorials on YouTube from my friend and As Follows drummer; her name is Claire Brock. Really solid stuff, she is a professional drum/percussion educator at the university level.

Drumeo Channel has alot of good stuff as well.

It's all in the fingers...lol;)

I watched Drumeo Channel and set up my kit more ergonomically. I think Jolly's joke is between how he does drums on his finger-pressing-drummachine, and 'advice-from-a-guitarist'! :)

IMO some of the best advice I ever got on guitar is also good for any instrument including drums;;; Use your ears and adjust your technique to make things sound as intended.

We've all seen guitarist who absolutely chop-saw the strings with the pick, with basically no regard to the buzzing toneless chaos permeating through the speakers, or drummers who just pimp-slap the cymbals and strike everything in a "one speed only" manner that never delivers any variance of dynamics.
