Least favorite Duncan p'up

I know Duncan is by far the best pickup company to my knowledge but we can't like them all, can we? I know I don't.

My all time most disliked Duncan pickup is the Custom 5. I just don't like it one bit.

What about you all?

Re: Least favorite Duncan p'up

I have to say that I haven't found one I didn't like - I just had to find the right guitar for it. Now I have too many guitars (though that is not even theoretically possible) - Duncan needs to keep the models to minimum so my basement doesn't fill up!

Re: Least favorite Duncan p'up

JB. It's one of those pickups that sounds like a big bag of poo until you find the right axe for it, then BAM! It just takes off. :burnout:

Re: Least favorite Duncan p'up

You work at PRS, right? I'm surprised you don't like the Custom 5, because it sounds pretty appropriate for most PRS's.

The pickups I don't have any use for are the Invader, Hot Rails bridge, Fullshred bridge, Dimebucker, Livewires, or any singles that are overly hot.

Re: Least favorite Duncan p'up

Demon and Dimebucker! I cant get along at all with either.

Just cause I work their doesnt mean I like PRS'. They look nice but they dont really have the sound I like. I'm going to see if I can get away with overwinding an HFS and snagging it lol. That'll be the day.

And for all the Dime haters I wish I still had my G-400 with a dime in the bridge and a JB in the neck. You all would hush up real quick. hehe.

Screamin Demon is the only pickup I've ever removed 5 minutes after I installed it! I hated it. I thought it was defective. It didn't make me play at all like George Lynch!

It's not meant to, it's meant to make you SOUND like Georch Lynch, it is your sloppy technique that is the problem. The poor worker blames his tools.

I guess poor technique would explain why I thought it was like an icepick in my ear?????? The technique isnt the problem, its the tone of it that bothered the hell out of me. Also, the Dime and Demon spent about the same amount of time in the guitars before they got ripped out and sold.

Once again, go away troll.

You are a forum troll. Go away.
:laugh2:

I'm not really into the '59 neck. I hesitate to really say I dislike any of them, because I always end up with a guitar that sounds teriffic with whichever pickups I recently badmouthed :)

Careful, Mykel. Mr. Smith might be listening. :eek13:

There is a famous saying: "It's all politics, man." Remember this. It applies to all employment situations.
