Re: Least populAR pup?

Ibanez have made some crappy pickup's in thier time, leading to most people giving thier Ibanez's instant pickup changes. Do you mean least popular just out of those four listed? Because if we are talking out of all pickups there are many i would put below any of those four.

+1... Og those 4 I´d say probably the Livewire because most active users go EMG w/o giving them a try (many don´t even know Duncan MAKES actives) ;)

Re: Least populAR pup?

Jazz Bridge. The name throws everyone off. Everyone thinks it's a bright, weak, pickup for clean Jazz guitar only. Did anyone bother to notice that it's listed in the 'Progressive' category, not the 'vintage' category, on this site? It's a great bridge pickup that works wonders in any dark or flat sounding guitar. Tight lows, natural mids, clean glassy highs. Sometimes I wonder how a Jazz set would sound in a Gibson 335?

I use one in my blue racecar strat, along with Surfers. The Jazz bridge really mates with single coils better than most other humbuckers.

Re: Least populAR pup?

It seems odd to me that you mentioned the CC and Invader. I thought CC's were reasonably popular (I'm going to try my Custom as one) and I think there are more punk and pop punk players out there playing Invaders than you think.

I'd agree with the Live Wires. It seems like no one has tried them. I'd be interested in SD's actual ranking by sales.

Re: Least populAR pup?

Taken direct from the Flatulatin' Pikkups website......"The Elgernon Pavaquah "Suckulator" pickup, with it's patented "Dying Duck meets squirrel in heat" technology, never quite made it with it's target audience....the big box jazz players. However, once Punky Brewster of the seminal punk/acid ska band, "Rancid Liver" got a hold of one and dropped it in his First Act "Decca" copy guitar, history was made".....

Re: Least populAR pup?

Fender lace sensors? They seem to get bombed whenever someone talks aboutt hem, and Jonny Greenwood in Radiohead is the only guitarist I know hwo uses them... he also uses a crappy solid state 80s fender amp and a discontinued Marshall Shredmaster pedal... and he gets an awesome tone... wierd...

Re: Least populAR pup?

PF darkside i have a invader in my alder jackson and a custom custom in my les paul i was just wondering cuz i dont really hear people talking about them. I think they are both great pups

Re: Least populAR pup?

the Jazz neck- not because it is a bad pickup, but because it is horribly mislabled- there is nothing jazzy sounding about it- it is way too bright.

Re: Least populAR pup?

Dunno. I have some kent armstrong pickups that I wouldn't even use to fix pictures to my fridge...

Re: Least populAR pup?

The HMLW is one of the best pickups SD makes, just needs a drop in output to a reasonable level - they worked great with the amps on the market back when it was introduced, but todays high gain monsters don't need as much front end input. I love the sound curve that those things have (like a Tone Zone but with SD characteristics)
