Led Zep TSRTS live sound in a box

Looking for a pedal that will do something like jimmy pages overdriven sound during the 1973 The Song Remains The Same live.

Something like a Marshall in box will do? I would like the pedal to-

- cleans up well when I roll down the volume knob
- Has to be dynamic/ touch responsive.
- have a certain degree of transparency especially when I flip to the neck pickup on my LP. I notice that distortions tend to sound poopy with the neck pickup, kinda like Jimmy pages neck pickup sound during live at royal albert hall 1970, I don't like that kind of sound.

Some of the pedals I have been looking online-

-Wampler Plexi drive.
-Zvex Box of rock
-Catalinbread dirty little secret.

Thanks folks

Re: Led Zep TSRTS live sound in a box

I've tried out a Bogner Extasy Red pedal and picked up a used Uberschall pedal the other day. They're both very responsive to the volume knob. I also have a Box Of Rock, an OCD, and a Radial Plexitube, and they're capable of getting old school Marshall tones, although the Box Of Rock is picky about what amp it's in front of. Of those three, the Radial is the most amp like, but the Bogners blow it out of the water.

If it were me, I'd find a Bogner Extasy Blue to try out. It's supposed to be more open sounding ane less compressed than the Red or Uberschall. Although, when I was trying the Red out, I was able to find some tones that worked great for AC/DC and whatnot, and on the right settings even the Uberschall can pull some of it off too. But the Blue would be the best bet.

Also, I should mention somethig else. Have a look at Amptweaker's line of pedals. I haven't heard any in person, but the clips I've heard sound really really good.

Keep in mind that most demos you'll run across won't be demos of Led Zeppelin tones, but if a pedal can pull off AC/DC, it can probably pull off Zeppelin.

ETA: Oh yeah, and everything I've heard from Wampler sounded great. Their Dual Fusion is on my Do Want list.

Through a decent valve amplifier, the Catalinbread RAH won't be too far off. It certainly has the dynamic sensitivity. Check out the official demo videos. Decide for yourself.

Just to throw another plexi in a box out there, I'll add the Fulltone Plimsoul. I've been checking out a bunch of said pedals, and I own the Plimsoul but no pedal has yet to urge me to get rid of it. It's got a ton of gain on tap, which you won't really need for Zep but it's great to have.

But yeah, any plexi in a box will do it for you. And now there are way too many to choose from. Also you didn't mention your amp, which makes a huge difference.

Wampler has great stuff but one of theirs I really liked for this application was the sovereign distortion. The BB Preamp sounds amazing too, almost gave up the Plimsoul for it. I've not tried the SL Drive but it's probably perfect. The Box of Rock is great too, the boost feature is awesome and you can use it separately.
