left handed PRS?

Re: left handed PRS?

PRS no longer makes lefties. PRS stated that they don't have enough demand for them to keep the tooling around. There's still a few floating around every once in awhile, so your best bet is to find one used.

As for "requests", they're not much of a custom shop, and even if they did special requests, they no longer have the patterns and machinery required for left handed guitar.

They do have a custom shop, so to speak. They call it Private Stock. I was told by PRS that I could get a Private Stock lefty Custom 22 built for $7,500. I declined their offer.

As for patterns and machinery, that's BS. They do everything with CNC routers. All you have to do is create a mirror image of the routing template in the software, let 'er rip, and presto: left-handed guitar.

They say they stopped making lefty guitars because they weren't selling enough of them. They only made them from 1996 - 2000. Fender, Gibson, Schecter, Ibanez, etc. don't seem to have a problem with selling lefties, and have been doing so for decades, so I'm not really sure what PRS's problem was.

In any case, it's a real sore spot with me. I spent fifteen years wanting to buy a PRS, and now that I'm finally in a position to afford one they pulled the plug. My options are the aforementioned Private Stock, or trolling eBay for a rare sighting of a production lefty, which of course command astronomical prices due to their scarcity.

Re: left handed PRS?

Schecter are actually awesome for Lefties, better than any other company I've looked at. If you look at their webpage, or southpawguitars.com, you'll see that virtually every guitar apart from the Synster Gates Custom has a left handed model available, and at reasonable prices, especially on southpaw xD
