PLayed a real good Burny the other day, plus check out Tokai at www.ishibashi-music.com. Go to the translated pages and check out the Tokais - basically the same as a Les Paul down to the headstock.
Maybe I'm dumb, but I've tried using this site before and I can never find anything. No Tokai link on the translated page and no results when I search. Any tips?

Haha, took me a while to do it as well. Go to the translated pages and you'll see a page advertising Mex fenders, the squire series and Les Pauls. Click on the Squire series box in the middle of the page (the one with pics). It'll take you to a description of it. Near the top it'll say guitar & basses as a link. Click on that and it'll take you to another page. The left hand column has a list - one will be domestic brands. Tokais under that.

Re: Les Paul Copies

Here are my two Diodati LP influenced guitars.
Diodati59Q2.jpg

59Q

dio58d7qt.jpg

58

Made in Japan.
Very, very nice quality fit and finish.
Play great and sound.

I did eventually swap out the 59Q's pickups.
The 58 is used, and has a stock Gotoh neck pickup and a
Air Norton bridge pickup. I need to get that one set up by my tech
to my preferences and string gauge. Then I'll decide If I want to keep those pickups in it.

The Diodati's are not exact replicas because they are sold here in the U.S.A.
So the horn and headstock are shaped different.
Body thickness is like an LP.
24 3/4 scale.
Rosewood fretboards.
Honduran mahogany neck and body.
Carved maple tops.
Neck profile are like a '59 LP.
Acrylic lacquer finish. Thin like Nitro. Durable like Poly.

As for Gibson sueing Tokai.
They've threatened it a few times.
About a year ago as a matter of fact.
Tokai tried to introduce thier USA market Love Rocks.
Even though the headstock shape and horn shape was different than a Gibson,
Gibson still felt it was too close and should pay royalties.
Apperantly Tokai must of refused and pulled the line from the U.S.
But, they are available through Canada.
Laws are different in different countries.
So, Trademarks don't always apply in all those countries.
That's way Gibson quit trying to go after the japan market, and decided to join them.
That's how Orville was started. Can't beat 'em. Join 'em.
Since then the Orville name had been changed to Epiphone Japan.
Now most recently Epiphone Elitist.

Oh, and I thought the ESP Edwards were made in ESPs own Japan factories.
Not out sourced to Fuji-Gen or Terada factories (both of which make or have made the Orville/Elitist lines. ) .

Fuji Gen also made for Ibanez, Yamaha, Burny/Fernandes, Fender Japan to name a few.
The have their own lines as well. Greco and FujiGen.
Rumor has it they will stop making for other brands.
Don't know if they plan on stopping thier own lines as well.
