what are your opinions on the gibson les paul gt? is it worth the cash? and how thick is the neck compared to my epi les paul custom? what makes the gt different from allt eh other les pauls? what exactly are allt he upgrades to it (and could u explain the purpose of them insted of just coping and pasting from the gibson website)

Re: les paul gt

I've yet to play or even see one but from what I've read it looks to be built to withstand some abuse.

It has an ebony fretboard, which is pretty rare these days. I'm not crazy about ebony, it's got a snap to it, I like the more mellow tones of rosewood, some people love it though.

It's coil tapped from the factory, essentially turning your humbuckers into singlecoils. Versatility would be the best desciption.

It has the extremely fat, 50's profile neck. This tends to be a love it or hate it thing. I happen to love it, but if you're into the slimmer necks, you probably won't.

It has the heavier tuners and I believe they're locking as well. It also has a locking input jack to help you from ripping the chord out. I'd say both of the locking features are somewhat useless on this guitar but it all adds to the "unbreakable" image they're going for. The beefier tuners however are nice.

I think the ghost flames are pretty badassed as well but that's just me. :D

Re: les paul gt

so compared to my epi les paul custom how much difference is the neck? and how does the cable lock thing work?

Re: les paul gt

Most of those features you can upgrade or retrofit on any Les Paul. The big difference is the dual action truss rod, which will keep the neck from warping or needing seasonal adjustments.

The cable lock thing- there's a button on the putput jack. You have to press the button to connect or disconnect the cable.

actually, i kinda like the specs of the godess models.

The Goddess in Sky Blue looks like a good match for Jake E. Lee's blueburst Charvel
