les paul pickup!?!?

right now i bought a gibson les paul copy

and i got sum imitation humbucker pickups
i dunt kno if that matters in the sound of the guitar tho

...

basically what im asking is..what do i "NEED" to make this les paul actually sound close to the actual gibson

it has the rosewood bridge and the mahogany body(if that matters)

but do i need to change the pickups

i reali suk at guitar gear

And it would be a rosewood fingerboard, not bridge. The bridge is the metal part your strings go into on the body...

What style of music do you wanna play? What amp do you have? There are quite a few pickups that would suit your guitar, so it would help to know what these things to mtach the best set.

well...i want it to sound like the original gibson les paul..or close to it at least...

do i need burstbucker pickups to do that or is there a seymour duncan pickup that is even better

What brand is it?

Throw a set of 59's in there, or Seth's.

I agree, if you're new to it, and you're dead set on putting a new set of pickups in there, those '59s are a great sound to start getting used to.

Otherwise, elaborate a bit on what kind of sounds you're looking for (what guitarists do you want to sound similar to), and what amp, effects you are using in your set-up.

To me , it would depend on how much you spent for the original guitar and how much $$$ you want to spend. Why not save your money, practice your ass off with this starter guitar and eventually you will be able to afford a better guitar. My 2 cents.
