Les Paul Prophecy Ex vs. Matt Heafy Signature Les Paul

Ok, so I haven't been able to personally play either because there isn't any at nearby guitar shops. The Prophecy has a much nicer finish and is 24 frets. The Heafy signature has an ebony fret board but only 22 frets. I believe both have the same hardware (bridge, emg 81/85) although the heafy might have better tuners. I'm wondering if there is a big difference in tone or quality of build. ****Also, how much better is ebony than rosewood for a fret board.****

Also looking at the Brent Hinds flying v. It may not have the active pickups but it sounds fantastic and looks to kill.

I play fast heavy rhythm similar to sylosis, but also delve into prog metal like intervals, and classic rock/metal.

Heafy has epiphone tuners, ex has grovers. The heafy also has the "access heel" neck joint, so part of it is scooped out instead of having a really boxy joint like just about every other les paul. Ive played them both and liked them both, you cant go wrong with either

Which fret board felt better in your opinion? And was the sound any different?

If you're "going there",I'd say get teh V...

What do you mean by "going there" lol

The only thing I don't like about v's is that I cant just sit on my bed and play it if I wanted to. Does it sound as beefy as a les paul?

Badass, but prolly not gonna sound like a LP.

Vs can be played sitting.

edit:
FWIW,I'd prolly go Heafy.
:D

ebony is alittle silkier for bends and can have a slightly brighter attack, but tonally, it isnt a world of difference in sound..

To play a V sitting, you put the V inside your thigh. Just alittle "off center" but works fine! I love the looks of that V, but the neck is alil fatter, and I like thin necks.. I would base the decision on the heel, and 22 vs 24 frets. either would be cool to have.

I've played both the Prophecy and MKH. The Prophecy has a thin 24 fret neck. The MKH has a little beefy 22 fret neck. And the access heel is awesome!

I vastly prefered the MKH, and now I own it. :)

These are some of the reasons to consider the signature one. Also Heafy's Epiphone is made in Indonesia, while the Prophecy is made in China.

I'm not a fan of signature instruments, but in this case you get more for the same price.

Thanks for the info but I meant sitting down on a bed so there's no space to put it in between your legs lol.

The same could be said for sitting down in a chair. Sitting in a bed is no different, you still put the wing between your legs.
