Les Paul set-up

What are the most important items to address, besides the electronic end of the guitar, in regards to having a Les Paul properly set up for best action, best tonation, and any tips and tricks you might use to make your Pauly the great player that it is.

All right you dog! Did you spring for a Les Paul and didn't tell your buddy John!?

Well...I'm lefty but...Nice action,very little to no visable wear on the frets...Look at how the strings come out of the stop peice and over the bridge that the strings run straight up the neck on their way to the nut? How well do the strings line up over the poles of the pickups? What's been done or modded to the guitar,Bone nut...How does the neck feel while you play? Like you never want to put the guitar down...No scratchy pots,all controls work like they should...Check the neck joint..Ever been dropped and glued there? Bone nut is nice but not really important..Is the hardware,tuners etc tight,screws missing,changed out tuners,screws etc...Is the guitar relic ed or just been dropped too many times? And other stuff I now can't think of? LOL

Not yet...lol. But kinda, sorta looking for a Studio. Those are a nice little handful of items to look for in a Paul.
I thought I read a post in here once that had to do with how the strings come out of the stop-piece on their way to the saddle. Is the string not supposed to touch any part of the stop-piece, for maximum tone? I've got the tail-piece on my Epi LP cranked all the way down, and the bridge adjusted accordingly, and it plays/sounds pretty nice.
