Les Paul/SG pickup dilemma - p90's and HB's

symptom

Hi there. Right now I own 2 guitars. An Epiphone SG G400 and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard.

The SG have a pair of GFS Mean 90 and the Les Paul has no pickups at this time. I decided to keep both guitars, mantaining one with the Mean 90's and other with humbuckers. I also decided that i will buy some seymour HB. So, here's my dilemma:

I like the SG the way it is, but I'm pretty sure the Mean 90's will rock the LP either. So, I'm not sure of which guitar i put the mean 90's and which guitar I put the HB's I will buy. Figure this out is crucial, since I will buy different sets depending on the guitar (something like 59's for the SG or A2pros for the Les Paul).

I know only me could get to the "right" answer, but can you give me some inputs to consider? Thank you!

Well, you say you already like the way the SG sounds with the mean 90's so the answer seems pretty simple to me. Buy a set of pickups for the LP.

What styles of music are you looking to play? I love the Alnico II Pros for Les Pauls. It's tough to beat them.

Other pickup combos I would consider:
Whole Lotta Humbucker set
Jazz neck humbucker with a Alnico II Pro bridge humbucker

+1

Leave the SG as it is. P90s work well on skinny, set neck, all-"mahogany" guitars.

For the LP, consider SD P-Rail pickups and the replacement of some (or all) of the stock control parts. This way, you can have access to P90 and humbucker sounds in the one guitar.

+1. A set of good PAF's in an LP is magic.

I don't own a Les Paul, but Seth Lover's sound fabulous in my SG Special. The bridge model was the best sounding pickup in my Squier Veuns too...by a long shot.
I have auditioned Distortions, Screamin Demons, and Sheptone Heartbreakers in the SG. Again, nothing compares to the Seth Lover's if you want a classic sound for blues and 60's-70's rock. Not sure how well this would translate to a Les Paul, though.
