Well, there's still plenty of room to bash Gibson over them - that goldtop could have 2 humbuckers or at least humbucker-sized P90s so we could swap them out for P-Rails and whatnot, for starters.
That is, unless P90s already are humbucker-sized, in which case, woohoo!

Guess I'll have to fix it myself when I get one, like folks did with their mini-hum Deluxes back in the day. It's only a guitar, after all.

Silly me, I always thought most folks buy a P90 equipped Les Paul for the P90s sound, not to do surgery on it to fit humbuckers.
Not every guitar needs a pickup swap.

+1. The precious few guitars that come from the factory with P-90's, should never be routed out for HB's. That's crazy.
As far as Gold Tops, I've love to see some affordable 1952 Gibsons & Epi LP's with the trapeze tailpiece. Now that's a Gold Top!

I used to own a Gibson Les Paul Studio Plus and I didn't care for it mainly because of hte neck. I much rather prefer the 60's fast neck over the one the studio comes with.
The 490R and 498T pickups didn't really do it for me either. I replaced them with a 500T and forget the other one.

"The average weight of a Les Paul Studio 50s Tribute body is 5.13 lbs, which is in the normal range for a Gibson guitar."
My chambered LP Classic weighs 8lbs 4oz.... that guitar is VERY lite.

Gibson makes very good P-90's. At most you may want to put an A4 or A8 in the bridge for a fuller sound.

gold tops are hideous in my humble opinion of course.
If you gave it to me I'd trade it for something with buckers in it for sure.
But thats just me, I wouldn't bastardize it or call it names....
