Les Paul Studio question

So I'm finally getting back to wiring my Les Paul Studio after a loooooong break. I swapped the pickups, it's been so long I can't even remember what is in there.

Anyways, that's not the point.

I went to wire it up tonight, and found something odd. I was using the 2 hum, 2 vol, 2 tone, 3 way wiring diagram as a reference:

It's a metal plate, and the two connectors in the middle between all the pots are really throwing me off. When I took the other pickups out I swore I took a picture of the wiring, but that is long gone. You can see the same setup in this thread.

Any ideas on how to approach this?

Re: Les Paul Studio question

I'm pretty sure the two prongs on the plate are just option ground connections. What about the wire from the guitar bridge? Did it come loose?

Re: Les Paul Studio question

My studio has the same thing. They tie the signal out wires to it, using it as a ground as kmd said.
