Les Paul Traditional + Full Shred neck

Just thought I would give an update. A few weeks ago I exchanged my Jazz neck for a Full Shred neck for my 2012 Les Paul Traditional. Seymour Duncan even exchanged for a floor shop custom Full Shred with nickel pole pieces. Very cool!!. I only just installed and played around for about 30 minutes but am liking it. Im interested to see what being able to adjust both coils will yield. It tested at 7.28-7.30dc with my multi meter so it is in the vintage range. It is still warm and full but with just enough lows pulled back to be usable with gain. With my bridge sh5, it adds just a bit of lows when used together. The Jazz lows were to much when used together. I could claim that the Jazz and Full Shred are the same except for allen pole pieces but I'm not positive. They are very similar though. I know there are those that stand by the Jazz being perfect and if anyone thinks different there must be something wrong with your rig somewhere. Good for them. If you have a Les Paul that you think is too warm in the neck, even when using a Jazz, then consider the Full Shred neck. Thanks again Seymour Duncan!!

I think we need to hear what this sounds like...

The pulled back lows and the extra attack from the polepieces is what I love about the FSneck. I like the response when I cut either or both of the controls on my guitar

Re: Les Paul Traditional + Full Shred neck

I'm almost certain I was in the "Try Jazz" then "Full Shred" camp…

Glad you are digging it. Nice to hear a good Duncan service experience.

Re: Les Paul Traditional + Full Shred neck

There were several comments from other users that insisted something must be wrong if you thing a Jazz neck has too much bass. I didnt take your responses, Aceman, in that manner. There are instances where certain members are adamant that there experience with certain equipment is the final authority. Anyway, Im looking forward to the next week of tinkering with height and pole piece adjustments.

Re: Les Paul Traditional + Full Shred neck

Awesome. I have the Full Shred neck in my LP Trad Pro II. I felt it needed a little beef so I swapped out the bridge side hex screws for fillister screws like the Screamin' Demon and it really did the trick. My favorite neck pickup right now.

Re: Les Paul Traditional + Full Shred neck

I have adjusted the side closest to the bridge higher and lowered the neck side down some. I am liking it. The most noticeable change is in the sustain i get from it. It sustains for days, whether playing on the lower frets or higher up, and leads into a nice controllable feedback. It also balances with the bridge sh5 much better. Its a keeper for sure.
