Les Paul Traditional + Humbucker from Hell

I thought I would update. Ive been trying neck pickups starting with the Jazz. Too much bass for me so I exchanged for the Full Shred Neck. Very nice, good output but a lot of adjusting the amp to balance with the bridge sh5. Im not much of a Dimarzio guy, but I installed the HFH today and have had a couple of hours to tinker with it. I like it also. It is similar to the Full Shred but it is much tighter on the low end. It still sounds like a good neck humbucker but with a extremely tight low end. The output is very noticeably lower than the Full Shred but still balances with the bridge with a little higher height adjustment. I can actually lower the volume or tone controls and still retain clarity. The output difference is more noticeable on the clean channel of my JVM IMO. Under gain I have been able to add more low end and mids for the bridge sh5 while not muddying the neck up. Im still reviewing but so far its nice.

Sounds cool. I have a Full Shred in the neck of my Les Paul Trad Pro II. I felt it was missing something so I put filister screws in the bridge side coil to add more bottom and mids which also tightened things up. I have an Alternative 8 in the bridge and they balance very well.

I have a HFH in the neck position of my LP too.
Love the clarity overall and tightness of the low end. As you mentioned, low output, but it makes my LP alittle more versatile while being paired with a classic paf type humbucker.

Re: Les Paul Traditional + Humbucker from Hell

I have never tried to get a good neck tone until this les paul. I have always used the bridge mainly and the neck was just an afterthought. I have 3 guitars. One Strat, a Peavey Wolfgang 98 model and the 2012 les paul. Of these three, the les paul is the meatiest. I should have expected finicky neck pickups on the paul since it is the fattest of my three guitars. So far the HFH is dealing with the darker les paul neck spot. I was hoping the Full Shred neck could have less bass or compression because that thing sustained for days on the upper fretboard. The HFH definitely has a single coil tonality with a humbuckers output range.
