less is more, do you agree? (switches and push-pull mayhem)

so, I just wired up a cyclone with a three mini switches jammed in between the volume and jack. It was annoying. I wish I could convince people that less is more.

I was the same way when I got into electric guitars at first. I wanted everything I could possibly get.

It has a lace sensor blue in the neck and a lace sensor emerald/purple dually in the bridge. He wanted a mini switch in the upper horn for the three way. The switches from top to bottom are

split (top coil)/both/split

phase

kill switch

Please dont harp on the ugliness! lol

I usually shrink wrap everything before I solder it up, but I ran out of that stuff, and I was in a hurry. The guitar is for someone who will probably bring me a new pickguard with a new idea next month anyway, no sense in making it pretty.

less is more? depends but I prefer to have more rather than less.

Sadly, you need to try all the options to find out which are actually useful to you. I love being able to invert the phase, or switch my neck pup to parallel on my LP.

Honestly, I am lucky if I even use my pickup selector. When I play metal/punk and dirty gritty biker rock its bridge pup all the time. Neck pup all the time for every thing else. However i do like a coil tapped alt8 used in conjunction with a 59n. Best classic rock tone i have had.

Gimme a slab o' mahogany with one P90, a volume pot and a tone pot. Thank you, kindly.

EDIT - +1 for an exemplary tidy scratchplate assembly.

I like less is more on the hardware side, 1 vol, 1 tone, 1-5 way rotary with all the combonations splitting nice and clean look.

Three really useful switching options is enough for me on most guitars. Five, maybe, if I use a Super Switch.

The ultimate for me is a 4-way switch on a Tele. That is one tonal option more than what is furnished stock, so that makes me a "more" guy. That said, there are limits. I don't like Fender's S1 system or any switching arrangement that relies on push-pulls or mini toggles. I want either 3, 4, or 5 selections depending on the guitar.
