Let see your Custom Shop pickups?

Re: Let see your Custom Shop pickups?

SSL-5s would work too, but a Custom set would set you back more. You can always just switch out the bridge pickup for an SSL-5 (or 6) and that might be all you need.

Re: Let see your Custom Shop pickups?

Yeah, kinda depends on personal taste at that point.

Personally, I like the SSL-1/SSL-1/SSL-5 combo and it is very popular because it covers such a wide variety of styles. The vintage-correct sounding SSL-1's work great for that Hendrix type tone, as well.

If you're ok with the stacked/noiseless designs, you should definitely check out the YJM Fury set. It's a solid option for higher output, noiseless, passive singles that really bridge the gap between vintage and modern performance and hold up great under gain.

The SC-101 "Duncan Designed" set is still the best bang-for-the-buck, though, for true singles with a hotter bridge and generally good tone.

Re: Let see your Custom Shop pickups?

Not Duncan's either but I went with Revel Pickups and got Broadcaster style with UOA5 and Degaussed A5 magnets. I couldn't be happier with the tone in the bridge. The neck is incredible at times but does get a tad muddy/muffled on certain settings through a processor (not through amps.)
