Levinson Blade R4

Has anyone got experience of changing the stock pickups on these guitars?



I've had the guitar since 1991 and just fancy a change. It's got the VSC active circuitry and just wondering if this limits my pickup choice.

The difficult thing is, I'm not sure what sound I want from it. I've got shred guitars already and probably just want a classic strat sound.

So basically what I'm asking is what pickups did you put in your Blade R4 and what type of sounds did you achieve??

I take it that no one has changed the pickups on a Blade R4? I will have to find a luthier or similar local to me and see what they can recommend.

I think the reason you got no answers is because you have no direction, plus asking about other p'ups without even knowing if it's possible to make'em work with the Blade's circuit. Also, you don't know if it's the system and not the p'ups the culprit of your tone woes.

If you want a classic strat sound, you need to ditch the Blade system altogether. Period.

Your best bet is to get a loaded pickguard with a SSL-1 set. Can't get more classic than that!
