And if so have you had any time to A/B it with your TS9s? I know you'll give us the thorough scoop but thought I'd ask anyway..Thanks buddy.. :)

Isn't doing it for me buddy...I'm spoiled now!

Seriously (actually, I was serious...) the TS 808 just doesn't seem like anything special compared to my modded TS-9's.

Also John, I love the modded DS-1 you sent me. The added bass and output is welcome. Really alot of fun to play through. The only thing I didn't like is that the clean tone when I turn my guitar's volume down to 3 or 4 is not as clean as my unmodded DS-1. Is there a way to get the increase in bass and overdrive and not compromise ANY of the clean tone when I turn my guitar down? That's got to stay the same...it's what I love most about DS-1's. Lew

Spoiled ya with the TS9 mods? Well good! That's very cool....Regarding the lack of clean when voluming down could be fixed by going back the other way on the gain resistance value towards the stock values...The extra lows adds a bit of gain to the circuit also...It's funny, but one of the ways to add gain in a pedal other than lowering or changing a resistance value,is to increase the cap size(Within certain parts of the circuit)....The DS1 is a cool pedal though..I did another TS5 today for myself....I used my Tele with the Nocaster bridge pickup..This TS5 wasn't very gainey like a TS9 can be but Man,talk about warm and smooth and sustain for days! I don't know why,but the TS5s are always warm and smooth...The TS9 and TS7 has a more aggressive tone and more gain...Same circuit for the most part, but both don't sound or act the same? The TS5 is a true sleeper pedal with great tone....Ask Bobby(Midnite Man)I've done 2 for him already with the same results...

Lew....Also...The Taiwan DS1s use an inline dual opamp and your MIJ DS1 uses an 8 pin 4558 like a Tube Screamer..With all else the same between these 2 DS1s,the difference in the 2 opamps has to be making the tone different also? This difference more than likely is what you hear between the new ones and your older DS1? I've never modded or played through the earlier MIJ pedals, but something tells me the opamp might make a significant difference..A difference your ears hear!

Re: Lew? Reissue TS 808 Arrive Yet?

Lew....Why not get your money back on your 808 if you don't care for it? Why have 3 pedals all basically modded close to your TS9s?

Let me guess....The 808 lacks lowend response and sustain...Seems thin and anemic? great for a Les Paul but too thin and shrill with a single coil strat...And now you know why I started tweakin on these things! LOL

Re: Lew? Reissue TS 808 Arrive Yet?

I find the reissue TS-808 (Keeley Modded) has a nice transparent boost quality, while my TS-9 (Analog Man Modded) has that tubescreamer pronounced mid sound and adds a strong character to the sound. So I use the TS-808 for Rythm crunch and the TS-9 for leads.

Re: Lew? Reissue TS 808 Arrive Yet?

StratDeluxer97, what difference, if any, is there between the original TS-9's and Reissue TS-9's, especially after getting your mod? Also, what do you charge to do the TS-9 mod for forum guys?

Re: Lew? Reissue TS 808 Arrive Yet?

is it only me, or should we start charging for ad space? ;)

I always prefer folks to IM me regarding pedal mods and prices so it doesn't take to much advantage of the forums... :burnout:

The difference between the original TS9 for the most part compared to the newer ones,is the different opamp...Original ones used the JRC4558D or the RC4558P..Newer TS9s from 93 until now use a crappier sounding Toshiba chip #TA57778 and most of us feel this chip lacks in tone? This chip was used for reliability on the second phase of the TS9s...After that it's pot and circuit tolerences between the TS9s...The opamp does play a big part in the tone..

IM me if I can help you so we keep everyone else happy....Thanks buddy....Sorry Scott....I Only bumped my message to get a reply from Lew regarding his TS808 and how it sounded... :smack:
