Lexicon Omega Desktop Studio?

I'm looking to get into computer recording. Using Fruity Loops for drum tracks, will be recording guitars and vocals separately. Most likely guitars will be laid down one at a time. I've been looking at the Lexicon package and it's running $300.00 and I was trying to find out if there were some other options around the same price range that might be better than this or if this package was even worth it. Just need something that sounds decent, doesn't have to be pro quality or anything but I don't want to sound like it's been recorded on a tape player in a friend garage. Any opinions or different options I should be looking for?

All I can say is there are a lot of affordable interfaces out right now so do a little research and find out which ones work well with your system specs and have solid drivers. The Lexicon has not received a huge buzz so perhaps there's a reason?

Personally, I'd look into a used or new old stock MBox (not MBox II) that could probably be had in that price range now days since the new MBox II came out. The Mbox is a great desktop interface IMO. As said, there are several options and research is key.

Any route you decide you have to make certain your computer is compatible.
