Liberated SG

Good day all, this is my first post here. I searched for the topic I am about to introduce but saw no indication. On my Gibson SG, the spec sheet indicates a 300k volume pot; I see the liberator is 250k and 500k? I have already purchased the Black Winter pickups and desire to install those pickups in SG. My question(s): Do I need a liberator for each volume pot, and How do I reconcile the 300k pot issue? Will it be a problem going to the 500k?

Get a 500k pot for both volume controls, 500k pots actually work better with the BW set in Gibson's, unless of course you have a really bright rig or prefer darker sounds.

When you said "liberated" I thought at first you meant it how my grandfather meant it, as in "stolen from Germany".

Welcome to the forum!

I agre here. I think 500k sounds better with the Black Winter, anyway. Yes, you would need 2 of them, since each pickup gets its own volume control (and the pickups go to their own controls before the switch).

You don't need both volumes to be liberators, however. One liberator can manage two pickups.

You can, but on a traditional 2 volume guitar, you'd want 2.
