Lil' 59 in a Tele

I'm considering replacing the bridge pickup on my Fender Baja Tele which I believe is a Fender Broadcaster pickup. I like the tele design but I'd prefer a fatter sound and a little more responsive harmonics in the bridge position.

I'm considering the Lil' 59 as I play a mixture of rock, hard rock, and occasional metal.

Is the Lil' 59 a fat sounding pickup in the bridge position in a tele? Can it handle Van Halen type tones under gain?

I have the full sized HB version in the neck position in my Jackson SL2H which I like but I hear the Lil' 59 sounds different.

Yes it will as long as you cop that style well enough and use an amp in that ballpark of evh. It'll do Gnr style crunch too

Lil 59 for tele, hmm best way i describe it is chunky. It fattens up telecasters but does rob you of the telecaster twangy sound in humbucker mode. Its hot enough to run a coil split good. i find that gives you back some of the bite.

If i get a chance i'll record something with a lil 59' later

The STL-2 would be a good choice. It's fater sounding than the Broadcaster but still retains the Tele characteristics.

i've been wanting to try a Lil'59 in my MIM tele for a while but can't bring myself to mod that guitar yet... i love it that way it is... i do have a Lil 59 in the bridge of my MIM strat.... i like it... i play VH style music on it... it does sound different then a full sized 59 but it sounds good to me... i like it...

of note to others the thing i found out with the lil 59 in my MIM strat is it's output is dam perfect for the stock MIM neck and middle ceremic Strat PU's...
