Lil59 - no humbucker

Hi guys, i have three lil59's on my strat. works fine. love it. had it like that for around 10years. have standard strat switch (5way).

Someone told me you can rewire them so you only use one coil of the lil59 - enabling another range of sounds - ie switch in humbucker or switch out.

has anyone done this. any comments ???

I haven't done that, but if they have 4 conductor wiring, you can do it. I have a lil 59 in a gtr that I recently purchased, but I haven't looked under the hood at the wiring yet.

IME, coil tapping works best w/ hotter HB pups. Weaker HBs often sound a bit thin when coil tapped...I prefer a series/parallel option w/weaker HB pups, but that is just my own preference.

the combo of a split bucker (any of them) and a single coil middle can be an amazing tone. Artietoo may pipe in with a diagram... ARTIE???
