Line 6 DT25 update...WHOA!!!!

OK so I was a little lukewarm about it at first, maybe even a tad disappointed. Because of Line 6's products being very fickle about certain types of USB to MIDI cables I couldn't do the firmware update to the amp and that was very frustrating. If I hooked it up to the HD500 it was fine, incredible actually but that is still a learning curve for me. I want, like I think the average guitarist would want, to be able to turn the amp on and simply dial in great sounds without over thinking or being impeded by the tech side of the equation. Also I didn't buy it for the 4 amps it initially shipped with I bought for the 30 amps, additional reverbs etc that the new firmware gave it.

Well I finally got my hands on an M-Audio UNO USB/MIDI cable and got the firmware update done and thanks to an incredible program called "DT Editor" I was able to set it up how I wanted. I am sure the settings/amps will change as I get more familiar with the DT25 head and can use it as a regular backline piece now but HOT DAMN!!!! it is killer.

It's pretty easy to dial in I have to say, really easy. I was getting tons of excellent sounds in a heartbeat and they were pretty far reaching in terms of sonics. I will be recording again shortly and definitely will be posting clips of it. I am really thrilled now. You do need a laptop/MIDI interface and some sort of control software to take advantage of everything it can do but that is fine by me especially when it is working this well.

Here's a few screenshots of the DT Editor program

Awesome Bro. Everything I have ever owned from L6 has that learning curve. And they are not always set up intuitively, but once it comes together, you can really start dragging some cool stuff out of them.

Looking fwd to the clips.

P.S. which Marshall model, and which Fender model do you dig the most?

I really like the Blackface Deluxe Vib model of the Fender's so far. The Park 75 Bright and the Plexi 100 Bright are both killer IMO.

At first I was turning off cab emulation because of something I read about it's effect on the overall sound. Did a little more research and found that not to be true, well at least not to what I was doing. Now I use that as an additional tone function, it really helps dial the sound in.

So far I am just running into a Jet CIty 1x12 cab with a WGS Reaper in it, the Reaper is real similiar to a G12H-30 or so they say. I tend to agree but I think it sounds a little grainier than the Celestion, not in a bad way just it's own personality.
