I´m planning to buy this amp, I´ve heard it´s quite good, but I wanted some advise first about if to buy it or not.
Appreciate any advise.

Re: Line 6 Spider III

I had a 150W spider 3 a few years back. It's pretty good if you want a very versitile setup. It get's pretty close to almost anything you are looking for. Just be mindfull of that Insane od settng it has. It can get very hard to contoll if you like a lot of gain.

Re: Line 6 Spider III

How many watts is it? if its 15watt don't bother. I think the best bang for you buck with smaller amps is a peavey bandit 112 those thing hammer

Re: Line 6 Spider III

Actually I was planning to buy the 15watt one, are you suggesting it´s not a good idea?

Re: Line 6 Spider III

As spider iii is no longer in stock at the place where I was going to buy it, I´m starting to think about buying the spider iv. But one thing I would like to know first is what´s the difference between them, I think maybe the newer version is better. What do you think?

Re: Line 6 Spider III

IMO, you're better off with a Peavey Vypyr. That is a great modelling/practice amp, and it's about the same price.

Re: Line 6 Spider III

I just bought a Spider 15 IV for a low-volume practice amp. I did not have a Vypyr or Mustang to compare it against, but I'm still very happy with it. I think that, when I started playing in the early 1990's, there just wasn't anything nearly that good of that size and price. And if the competition is doing stuff that's even better, that means the product category probebly isn't going to slack off anytime soon. I want to try those other amps now, because I kinda want something for my bedroom.

Re: Line 6 Spider III

The IVs have an updated software engine that is the equivalent to the pod x2 lineup..IOW, the best they offer outside of the new HD.

The previous Spyders do not sound as good as the IV.

As mentioned the various cubes, mustangs, and VOX VTs should be checked out as well.

Re: Line 6 Spider III

Thanks Little Pigbacon and JeffB, I have decided to buy the spider iv, but I´m also looking forward to try micro cubes, mustangs and peavys in the future.
So thank you all for your help!

Re: Line 6 Spider III

I'd go for at least the 75watt.

They are a lot more full-featured than the 15 or the 30, in addition to just being bigger and more powerful. I got the 15 because I already have bigger amps and just wanted something small and solid-state for practice.

I really like my line 6 gear alot. You can get great tones out of them if you are willing to take time and experiment with what fits your style best. Also, less gain is usually better tone. Use as much as you need but start low. It helps everything to sound a bit more organic.
