Question: Which would you choose to buy?

Line 6 Spider III 75 at $250

or

Line 6 Spider II 120 at $280.

Being sold near my area.

Can you help me with which to choose to buy?

Thanks

If you can, avoid the Spider altogether and grab a Peavey Vyper.
If you can't and have to grab those amps, the obvious choice should be the higher wattage model, since it means more headroom which is important when playing with a band.

The spider 3 has a bit more options (fx) and a 12" speaker.
The spider 2 has most of those options (fx) and 2 10" speakers and 120 watts.
If it were me, I'd go for the spider 3, Just cause I dont need 120 watts, and prefer 12" speakers, and because it's also newer.
Thats being said, I have tried the spider 2 120 before, and liked it.

^The III didn't have any decent new features though apart from new presets, none of which you'd want to use I suspect.
The same crappy modeling algorithms unfortunately, so the core tone is just the same, the only difference is the speakers and wattage between these 2 models he's looking at.

Pick up a used Peavey Classic 30 and a Digitech RP500 multieffects pedal. Not much more in price but way better sound.

i don't want to sound like i'm against what you want or anything, but i don't think you'll be satisfied with either of those amps. i'd suggest checking out the vox VT amp modelers, they're hybrids that have a more organic feel and tone.

i used to own the spider II head and i didnt like how the distortion dulled out when you turned it to 4 or 5 or higher. that was the only thing i didnt like about it. i think the reason for it was just because it was a solid state amp.
