I am thinking about using a SD Little '59 as a drop-in replacement for the neck pickup in my American Special Stratocaster. My guitar is the version with SD Pearly Gates HB in the bridge.The middle and neck pickups are Fender Texas Specials. I am a jazz/clean blues player and want a little rounder, warmer tone from the neck than I am getting from the single coils in the guitar now.
My questions:
1. Should I change both the bridge and middle pickups to humbuckers or am I okay with a HSH setup?
2. If HSH is okay, is the Texas Special okay in the middle?
3. If I should change to an HHH setup, should I use Little '59 in the middle or can someone suggest something better?
2. With a hotter pickup at least in the neck, will I need to change the pot?
