live wires in basswood

Re: live wires in basswood

well dude...ive never tried it.

but my ltd is basswood, and well although it is dark

ITS NOTHING YOU CANT EQ

i can imagine that the livewires wont sound the same in basswood as, say mahogany, but im pretty sure you wont lose any gain or anything.

Can't see why they shouldn't. Basswood is so neutral, it works just fine with about every single high output pickup there is.

USAGI

dude

listen to ChileanGuy

he knows what hes talkin' 'bout.

i agree.

Livewire metal produces the most unholy metal tone ive ever heard.

you might want a classic in the neck, works perfect if you need a clean tone.

BTW
what guitar is it?

Re: live wires in basswood

I think they need to develop a mid-output Livewire to pair in the metal set because the classic is too low output imo.

Re: live wires in basswood

Ive never heard the mustaines.

I Dont know if they back up the hype, but their supposed to be like JBs...maybe something like a 59 in the bridge...that wouldnt be so low...i dont think, if it were active.

well something like that.

an actual JB would be nice though

not a mustaine
but an active JB.

Re: live wires in basswood

The mustaines are basically an active JB/Jazz set thats recieved nothing but great reviews

Re: live wires in basswood

I wouldnt know Vinter.

i just wouldnt lol.

the Livewires are really closing shop for EMG huh? lol.

Re: live wires in basswood

I have an RG1570 with SD Distortion (neck) and Dimebucker Bridge. I'm pretty happy with the way it sounds. However, I've hear so much good about the LiveWires I want to try them. Might need another Ibz for them. I wish they came in 7 string version.

Re: live wires in basswood

As i said in the mustaine thread i have both the JB and mustaine set, and the mustaine bridge sounds almost exactly like a passive JB, just pushes my amp more, if i turn down the mustaine volume knob a bit i get a passive JB maxed sound that is almost (like i said) identical, except the feel of the mustaines is much different, it has that EMG feel, which is probably the feel of most actives which i'm not sure i like or not, its cool for leads i think. And the passive JB seems to have more overtones, more complex, and a richer sound. I prefer the passives overall. Also the mustaine neck sounds exactly the same as the Jazz neck.

Re: live wires in basswood

No active give what your distortion gives to you bro!If you would like to have a better "distortion" ,try the PATB2 ,i am really happy with it on my Basswood Peavey!
