Locking Super V trem

I love the Super V Blade Runner. It was a huge improvement on my strat, probably one of the best improvements I ever made on a strat. I am curious on their locking model. I want to mod another Eric Johnson strat and I am thinking of putting the locking model on anther Eric Johnson. It would slide right on in with no mods. Has anyone used one before? is there anything I need to be aware of?

No experience with the Blade Runner bridges, but I'm curious about them.

Just to clarify, you currently have the *non*-locking Blade Runner bridge? It looks like the Super-Vee is the double-locking version, and that's the one you're asking about?

Also, what were the areas of improvement in the Blade Runner over your stock bridge?

The Blade Runner keeps your guitar in tune almost as well as a locking trem. It also added a lot more sustain and much better tone. The trem bolts on right to the wood and its a direct connection bending on metal instead of pivoting on screws. your guitar is louder too, and the harmonics are more dynamic. The tone has automatically more presence and the notes are sharper and clearer. I had to turn down the presence on my amp and back off the treble a little as the new trem made the tone more dynamic. I want to do some crazy Floyd type diving stuff and I want to use lil 59's in the neck and middle with a JB in the bridge. It will be a big aggressive tone I'm hoping but I have never tried the locking model. I like Floyds but this slides right in and requires no mods. I know about 5 years ago they had a few quality issues that they got worked out with this model of trem but I am hoping someone has tried one of the later models to see how well it worked. I love the Eric Johnson I have now. It has some of the best Strat features so I am staying with that model. I will mod a used one and keep the original pickguard intact in a box.

Hi there! I just got one recently! Still need to try it out more! Waiting for rehearsal*
It feels rock solid, keeps the tuning alright, and guitar tone improved a lot!
I ordered mine with Callaham Saddles!

I am a big Bladerunner fan, too. I haven't tried the original Super Vee, though.

Re: Locking Super V trem

callahan saddles sounds cool, whats the advantage of the saddles?

Still new to the Blade Runner tremolo, but I can say they're the biggest saddles I have ever played with. Big & Tall. My tech had to do something in the neck to ''raise it'' so it could lower the action, and not shave the saddles. I can say that they're better saddles than ones found in any Strats I have ever played in my life. The intonation is top notch and the saddles + tremolo construction feel solid. I can play with the same or even more confidence than with a tune-o-matic guitar.

I purchased the Blade Runner tremolo with the Callaham Saddles due to the myths, the good talk of Callaham made items, and because I wanted the best for my guitar. I heard the original/stock Blade Runner saddles ain't that good. Someone can clarify on that* About tone related topics: my JB, STK-S7 & STK-S6 are in tonal glory right now, sounding better than ever. Very clear, defined, and strong. Very happy with the purchase! I do hope I can make a full written review and video soon to expose all the finds I can make of the tremolo. For now (and for me) is the best (non-locking) tremolo I have ever played in my life!

I use Graph-Tech saddles on mine.

Very nice! I heard they're great to minimize string breakage, but that they ''tone down'' the trebles a little bit.

do the saddles suck or is modding the saddles just squeezing extra tone?

Callaham Saddles rock! They feel really solid on the tremolo!
About the tone factor, really would like to compare a stock Blade Runner VS a Callaham Saddles installed Blade Runner VS a Graph Tech Saddles Blade Runner, and even a Babicz Blade Runner. I know is $40+ for installing Callaham or Graph Tech to your CUSTOM Blade Runner Tremolo. I believe is $95 for the Babicz one*

About mine, it's my 1st time playing Callaham Saddles in my life, and I have never heard a strong sounding Strat like mine; not in my stock tremolo or any FENDER USA guitars
I have ever played. It's something truly special, but I imagine the price factor may turn people away from it. But it's pretty neat indeed!
If looking for a replacement (non-locking) tremolo, it may be one of the greatest available options on the tremolo market.

The stock ones are fine. I like what the Graph Tech does to the tone, and it can't hurt from a friction point of view. They are also very comfortable to rest your hand on.
