Look at this cool modified Fender Amp.

I just came across this Ebay auction. Someone took a Hot Rod Deville and turned it into a pseudo boutique amp, using Mojo cabinetry. Also, Mercury trannies, neutrik jacks, new knobs, jewel light, and some circuitry mods.

Cool, but does it still sound like a hot rod? caus ewww... if it does.

Re: Look at this cool modified Fender Amp.

Hehe totally cool conversion....the hot rod can sound ok if you just play it right.
We have an old blonde at work, it has some sweet Ford/Carlton like tones...
But....it is a Fender;)
So soon after I just switch back to the barrage of Brit toned amps:D

Uh dude you just haven't played the RIGHT Fender!! I currently own a Fender 2/10 Prosonic combo along with a Masrshall TSL halfstack and the Fender Prosonic is just plain VICIOUS!! This little 2/10 combo blows ANY Marshall or Boogie I have EVER played and owned out of the water on the crunch side!! Here is a clip from an outdoor gig with the combo on my Fender 2/12 cab and just a little wah in the end http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=439224&songID=5312459.

Re: Look at this cool modified Fender Amp.

Trust me....I have played plenty...I about only like Tweeds!

I have played a BUNCH of Fenders over the years also but NOTHING like the Custom Shop Prosonics. I had to go to lower gain pre amp tubes in V-1 and 2 to kill some of the flamethrowing gain :rocket: in these. These amps have the most expressive high gain crunch channels I have ever played and that includes stuff like the Marshall JCM 800's 900's 2000's, Boogie Recs, Boogners, VHT's, Soldano SLO's ect!!

Re: Look at this cool modified Fender Amp.

You know you want it Jonesy...

I'm more inclined to do something like Hot Grits......putting a better amp or a project amp in that nice looking Mojo cabintry. I like the way it looks, but would like it better if it had a Bassman LTD chassis in it.

Honestly though, the Hotrod clean channels are really good. This one in the auction has a lot of work done on it, so I don't doubt that it sounds great.

Everyone always approaches the Hotrod gain channels wrong. It's not supposed to be a highgain amp and it sounds ratty when you do. It's best to adjust those gain channels so they have a little bit more gain than the clean channel, for bluesy gain with a strat. Just turn the master really high and the gain knob to taste.

That's right ... I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this.

When I had my HR Deluxe, it was pretty much set to clean, slightly crunchy, and slightly more crunchy. :) I juiced it up with a Blues Driver for a more saturated tone when necessary. It sounded really good IMO, and served me well until I got my first Boogie.

Re: Look at this cool modified Fender Amp.

Jones buy it and I'll help you put a good amp into it.... :)

Seriously, a Hot Rod is a great clean platform to begin with, especially if you're a pedal head anyay.

The cabinet work is top notch looking. ONe of the many reasons I use Mojo for a lot of my stuff.

Re: Look at this cool modified Fender Amp.

Scott....what do you think it would cost for a headbox and cabinet like that, from Mojo? A 6L6 Aislinn chassis and H30's would be nice.
