Look at this distortion preamp I "made"!

Actually, it's more of a rackmountable distortion box. It has 3 distortions. A TS-808 that I modded a TON. It sounds like BUTTER. A Seymour Duncan Tweak Fuzz with an extra little circuit I added that allows the fuzz to be more versatile. Lastly, there's a Mesa V-Twin circuit. That V-Twin is stock. Each distortion is selected via ground-to-tip relay jacks. I even made the enclosure! So, what do you guy's think? I knwo the pictures suck.. haha

P.S. the boards aren't mounted well yet, The electrical tape insulation is temporary.. haha

P.S. In the title, "Made" is in quotation marks because I didn't create the v-twin, tube screamer, or tweak fuzz pedals, just modded and mounted them in a unique way.

Damn. 16 years old, making rack units? Maybe a future Bob Bradshaw or James Demeter? You actually picked 3 cool pedals to transform into that rack piece. You run it all into the front of the amp right?

Yup, directly into the front. I feel, for me and my style, these three pedals cover all the bases.

Looks like a very fun project.

Massive caps! Haha, they were lying around, so I used em and liked how they sounded. I got a smaller capacitor of the same value and it didn't sound as good, so I threw the huge caps back in. I spent a really long time messing with the TS, and the main result is that it sounds, to my ears, gorgous, and is pretty dang quiet. I'm really pleased with it.

Sorry, I don't. The main thing that the mod did was change how the fuzz reacted to different types of playing... Subtle techniques come out a lot more than they did before. It's technically not even a mod, just an added circuit. The tweak fuzzes are hard to mod because they have those irritating little lead-less components!

There's a green LED too! It's just hard to see in the picture! Look all the way to the right of the front panel! Haha

I'm sure the majority of the people that wire guitar electronics can do this, it's just a matter of understanding how, and having a lot of free time. Haha

I wired all the electronics in my guitar myself, but i still dont think i could do that.

Basically, in the back of the box there are 3 jacks. I plug a normal instrument cord into each of the jacks, and plug the other end of that cord into a special pedal I made. The pedal is just 3 switches, each simply attaches the tip of the guitar cord, to the ground(sleeve). In the distortion box, the 3 jacks are wired so that when the tip of each cord is grounded, it turns on the corresponding channel. This type of wiring allows me to have minimal stuff out on the ground while playing. It's very organized.
