Lookin for a set of new PUPS close to Joe Bardens

I want to put a new set of pups in my telecaster, I would like to put Joe Bardens in it but "I REFUSE TO PAY $500" for a set of pups, these pups are out ragiously priced !!!!!! Are there any Duncans that come close to the Joe Barden pups ???????????? Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smack:

I don't think there's any pickup that sounds like a Barden except the Barden. They were tweaked to Danny Gatton's specs and, according to Joe, Eric Johnson had some input too. There are other rails designs, but the Bardens have thier own thing going for them. Amazing that so many described them as being to bright, to clear, to hi-fi, to dry, to this, to that...and now that Joe stops making them they're fetching $400 a set! So fickle...these guitar players. "Sell the sizzle...not the steak" my Dad used to tell me. He was a great salesman...and a great many things.

What's that?! they're NOT making Bardens anymore? You sure?

I have a pair in my 62're-issue strat that I was thinking about taking out and putting in a humbkr. Maybe I should play with it before I do that swap.
