I like the Akai DPS 12 and 16, since they have the same quality as Roland, but are more user friendly, since the channels all have their own fader. On Rolands, you have to share faders. Akai's depreciate more, so you can find a 16 with virtual tracks for less than most others. Now, I have a board and the Mackie HDR 24/96, but before that I had a DPS 12i, and it was a great unit for recording quality demos.
