Im looking for a new acoustic & been wanting a Takamine. I don't want anything cheap. I would like to pretty much use all the money up to the desired price range. Checked into Tak's Eg360 & it seemed to be rad, but I want to make sure im going to be completely satisfied with my guitar.

Hi there,
As you mentioned that you are looking for new acoustic under $900.
It is not available directly. Try to search in eBay. You will find this there.
Its really good site. try it.

Re: Looking for a new acoustic under $900

yes, what he said, you simply cannot get a new acoustic for under $900. theyre only sold on ebay.

:laugh2: what the hell?

Takamine EG360SC seems to be going for 600$ on the internet and it seems to be decent model but maybe you should look for something closer to your limit (900)

I highly recommend Yamaha acoustics. They have great prices, build quality and feature.

If you can also specify what you are looking for in your new guitar we can make better suggestions.

Edit: You might also get some ideas from this recent thread https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=185400

I like a nice bright sound in my acoustic & easy playability . I have no experience in electric acoustic yet I might add.
I dislike yamaha a fair amount, just not into it.

Hmmm...that's too bad, cause they build some dang nice boxes in that price range(500 -900).

Eastman is another good bang for the buck guitar.

Epiphone Masterbilts are nice and solid.

I know a lot of people hate them, but I really like my Ibanez AEL40SE, I paid £320 for it new (about $500) but it plays like a guitar double that price tag.

I have no idea what the USA prices are, but i am sure your budget would cover it ..... Blueridge or Guild GAD series acoustics are phenomenal value for money. I have owned both, and cannot recommend them highly enough. Most of the models from both manufacturers are all solid woods and extremely well built.

Also look at K.Yairi, they make guitars under their own brand as well as Alvarez

Not sure what it is price wise n the US, but there's some very good all solid wood acoustics from asian manufacturers going, like the GAD series from Guild. Walden's another. I finally settled on a Tanglewood TW15NS - satin finished, solid mahogany back, sides and neck with a spruce top. Very Taylor like with brilliant fit and finish. There's also a gloss model, one's with pickups and the usual assortment of body shapes.

Review here - http://www.australianmusician.com.au/mag/check12/check_Tanglewood_TW15_TW45_Guitars.html

Edit - just had a google, coming in around the $700 mark. The DLX with solid ovangkol is a bit more, and the deluxe still a bit more, but within your budget.

Re: Looking for a new acoustic under $900

The guitar shop near me has a few mid-priced acoustics. They are partial to the Taylors. Maybe due to incentives, maybe not. I'm assuming you are looking for a dreadnought w/out electronics. The Taylors are pretty nice. There are also 1 or 2 budget Martins in this price range. They're ok, nothing outstanding. I think the Taylor is nicer, both tone wise & for playability. I really like the Seagul. There are a few in this price range. Give them a try, I think you'll be impressed. Lastly take a look at a few Ovations in this range. I like the Ovations, but the rear bowls take some getting used to. Playability & tone are great.

If you're willing to take a ride up to $1100ish check out the Rainsong all graphite guitars. They're nice to play, but they look a little strange & have an unusual tone. Some love it, some don't.

Good Luck

Re: Looking for a new acoustic under $900

I live in Newfoundland Canada & it's so hard to find anything good. Everything is over priced big time, & very limited brands. So i wouldn't be able to try anything rad out. I kinda dig the Ovation style, also was looking into the Rain Song. Looks beautiful. Anyone have experience with Tak's in the 1000 range?
