Looking for a workhorse blues/rock Strat

Re: Looking for a workhorse blues/rock Strat

If that's what you're looking for in a Strat, then go for it. It obviously worked well for the owner since you can see he played the hell out of it. One thing I would definitely look into on that guitar is fret wear.

Upgrades for a strat are like changing brands of toilet paper. They're all minute upgrades. You can build up another guard and swap them out in minutes. Giving you a completely different sounding guitar. Stuff like tuners and saddles are preference. I prefer bent steel saddles and Klusons on a Strat, but that's not to say the locking tuners and graphtech saddles don't work well on Strats either.

So if it's what you want and the price is right, snag it up. It's not like there aren't several companies out there make Strat replacement stuff to change EVERYTHING at your very whim. Strats are generic, but cool like that.

Re: Looking for a workhorse blues/rock Strat

It seems like a Highway 1 body (I have one like that). Especially because of the 6-screw tremolo, which is what Highway 1s have while standard MIA have a 2-point tremolo.

Other than that, I think the Highway 1 body is really cool with its satin nitro finish. I like mine.

Re: Looking for a workhorse blues/rock Strat

Hey, it's a beat to death (I dislike calling that relic) strat with a lil 59 in the bridge, locking tuners and 5/6 Graph tech saddles.

If you're in the market for a Strat what's not to like?! :D

Seriously, as an axe it looks solid but as for the price, I really can't tell about stuff when sold in pounds :9:

Re: Looking for a workhorse blues/rock Strat

it may not be anything special... just a HWY1 someone modded and beat to snot... depending on what these guitars go for new in the UK you may be better off buying a new one and abuse it yourself over a while
