Alright, so I got a Dimebucker for my Les Paul, and I attempted to wire it up myself... well, everything went fine until I noticed that the pickup would gradually lose and then regain volume, I fooled around and found out that it was the volume pot causing the trouble... we've got a show coming up in about a week and a half, and we needed to practice so I said "I'll just bypass it for now and I'll get a new volume pot in a few days and replace it".
Ok, so its been a few days, I decided I would just take my tone control(since I don't really use it for the bridge position anyways) and make it the new volume pot, and reconnect everything later. So I got done a few minutes ago, plugged up, but now eveything is so MUDDY! It wasn't like this before, I'm going to take it to a professional(since I'm a dumbass) and let them fix it.
So my questions are... how much do you think it'll cost me, what do you think the problem is(I suspect the soldering is a bit shoddy), and will not having my tone control affect the sound(since pots roll off some of the highs)?
Also I want to mention that I took the capacitor(or whatever its called) off of the pot before I re-soldered everything. Its safe to say that I wont be going on anymore 'adventures' in the near or distant future.
Thanks.
