Looking for an interesting set

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and this is my first post.

I'm looking to upgrade my Ibanez ART100 with some new pickups, it would have to be a set of humbucker sized PUPs. Looking for something with moderate to high output but also wanna try a set you wouldn't normally put together. I'm thinking of a Phat Cat in the bridge and PRails in the neck. What do you guys think though or do you have any other idea?

Re: Looking for an interesting set

What kind of guitar is an Art100? Woods?

A P-Rails neck would overpower a PC bridge; even a PC neck overpowers a PC bridge.

You could do a 59/c and a Prails together with all kinds of switching and splitting. Probably could be the most versatile HH guitar ever. Whichever one goes where you decide. I don't have much experience with the Prails. And the 59/c can actually make a really cool neck pickup because of how well it can split, Gotta have a MONSTER in the bridge though.

59 custom or the custom hybrid? But thats actually a great idea, I've heard some samples of the Prails in the bridge but didn't care for it much, love it in the neck though. Either of the 59's would probably make a kickass bridge though, splitting options on both and the guitar would be a beast

I meant the 59/custom hybrid because you can get a wider variety of split and phasing sounds with it and the stock humbucker sound is REALLY useful. Either or buddy.

What's the ret of your rig like, what music are you playing and what kind of tones are you trying to achieve?

There's a lot of humbuckers that could sound great in that guitar. If you want to experiment with some of the more unusual pickups, though, a Stag Mag bridge and Phat Cat neck could be a really awesome combination.

If you want to go with P-Rails, I'd go with a set of them. There's a lot of interesting combinations you can get in the middle position with a pair of PRs and some Triple Shots.

Re: Looking for an interesting set

Maybe not a perfect answer to your question, but it is an interesting set.

Re: Looking for an interesting set

I'm running into a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue with a wah, octave, and overdrive/distortion pedal in between since theres no effect loop. Music is sorta blues rock, tone wise, I'm trying to find a new tone...well, new to me and my ears.

I glanced at the Pearly gates but didn't put too much thought into them to be honest, not really sure why. The thing I'm looking for in the neck is a nice fat sound for the humbucker setting but a smooth single coil sound because I like the single coil neck best for rhythm usually. Then I'm looking for something that can hold its own in the bridge, like Falloffthebonetone said, a monster.

Re: Looking for an interesting set

I just did some research on some of these PUPs and decided I definitely want the tripple shot system on it. What I haven't decided on yet is the set. I'm leaning towards the PRs in the neck though, mainly because I want the option of the P90 in the neck just for an extra little perk, nothing against the Pearly Gates, just want that extra something. In the bridge is where I'm really torn though; 59/Custom Hybrid, PRs, and then the Screamin Demon. Last one is a bit odd but for some reason it caught my curiosity, anyone know how it sounds clean? The Custom was a bit too harsh for my ears.

What do you guys say?
