looking for diagram: ssh, 3 on/off toggles, 1 volume as coil tap, poss triple shot

I am close to figuring out the wiring for this, but the coil tap is a struggle. I am hoping to find this. It is a Kramer Focus 6000, SSH with only a volume knob (I am installing a push/pull tap), instead of a sliding 4 or 5 way switch, it has 3 toggle switches that turn each pickup on/off (each box under the toggles have 6 posts, 3 on left, 3 on right).

I know I have seen this diagram (wiht the coil tap) but I am going nuts trying to find it. I have looked on the vintage kramer site, and even emailed them the request. If I get a response, I'll post the diagram here.

Thanks y'all
Jon

What kind of humbucker do you have in the bridge? I can probably help you with a diagram, but just need to know what pickups you’re working with.

Do the single coils have a tap? I am confused...do you mean you are splitting the humbucker (shutting off one coil)?

Hey y'all,
Thanks for the quick responses!

I have a Seymour Duncan humbucker (not sure if it's pearly gates or texas special, but it's not a p-rail in this guitar). . . CORRECTION: both humbucker coil cases are white. This one is not a Kramer Focus 6000 stock pickup. The wires are black, white, red, green and bare.

The single coils are stock SD Power Pickups (I believe they were a cheaper SD setup in the later 80's Kramer Focus 6000's). Their wires are White and Bare, one encased in Green cover, the other encased in a Black cover (ie white and bare wires are inside green or black sheath).

Yes, I am wanting to tap (I may have the wrong word here--I've just heard it called a "coil tap") the humbucker to shut off 1 coil. I may add a triple shot later to change from parallel to series, but I'll tackle that later if I have time.

Thanks!
JOn

Thank you! They oughtta add this to the wiring diagrams. VERY nicely done.

Best,

Sounds great! It's a vast improvement from the really complex wiring I had before.

So this runs the humbucker as in series or as split (ie only 1 coil). If I add a triple shot, would it give the ability to go between series and parallel when both coils active? Alternatively (and I think less redundant since one of the toggles on a triple shot is a coil tap) could I add a simple push button that changes between series and parallel when both coils active?

I’m not so sure that the Triple Shot would be the right way to go unless you were gonna do something else with the push-pull. Right now you have 2 of the 4 sounds a Triple Shot offers (series and split north). If you want both of the other sounds (parallel and split south) then I would suggest going for it and changing your push-pull into a switch that puts the neck and bridge in series with one another.

Personally, I think the Triple Shots are awesome for a pickup like the P-Rails where the coils are significantly different from one another, but just kind of “meh” for pickups with similar coils unless they’re being used in order to free up real estate on the guitar for push-pulls to do other tasks or in order to avoid drilling new holes. If it were me, I would just add a switch for the bridge p’up to be parallel and not worry about the ability to split to the south coil.

That being said, one thing the Triple Shot WOULD give with its ability to split to either coil is hum-canceling when split and paired with either of the single coils (assuming that the center pickup is RWRP from the neck).

I know... not very helpful, huh? [emoji12]

After losing my mind, I was finally able to get those tiny posts soldered to the wires. Some have large blobs of solder, but the guitar works great. I'm going to look at changing the push/pull to different tasks like neck/bridge in series for practice.

I actually have P-rails on my strat HSS. I am about to start working on that after I get this soldering thing dialed in a little better. I have an s-1 switch (instead of push/pull) that I'm going to try with my 5 way super switch. I ordered a new super switch so I won't mess up the current one that works. Have a diagram for S-1 and 5 way super switch on Deluxe Strat, but am hoping to find a way to get just the rail by itself (I may just drill a hole in the pickguard over the extra pot cutout that I have in my strat and drop in a push/push or a toggle).

I've got lots of ideas to play with, but not nearly enough knowledge of how to figure out wiring.

Wish me luck! I'm sure I'll be back with more questions.
