Looking for opinions on Tele project

I usually hate these "Hey guys, what do you think of this" type threads, but I'm actually kind of stuck here on this one.
So, I have this JB-Player Tele copy.

It's for sure getting the huge bridge route filled in, and maybe the middle pickup route as well. So that means it'll be down for... a while, since I have 93 other projects (and I kinda suck at woodwork)
I have this other Tele body

it's a kinda cool brown color, and routed for H-H like I wanted.
So the plan for the JBP body was to end up with something like the "Jim Root Tele"

but I also like the 70's style coffee table stained look

(My first guitar teacher had what was supposed to be a 50's Tele that he stained dark like this, seeing him rock out the Foghat songs on it kinda made an impression on me at a young age)
THis body would pretty much only need to be bolted together to be done (assuming I can fit the SDS-1 pup into a HB route, otherwise I'll have to break out the Dremel again)

So whadda ya think? 70's style, or 80's style?
Or, of course, "Shaddup Daan and finish the other ones first!"

I would just go with the bridge humbucker alone and make it "esquire-ish". Bolt it up and play with it for a while, you can always paint it later.
