Im looking at purchasing a few JOYO effects for a pedal board Im wanting to build for worship services. What are your opinions on the JOYO line of pedals?

Re: Looking for opinions.....

Just an opinion, yours may vary:

Don't worship your pedal board.

;)

Haha! Awesome response! :lmao:

I've only used a Joyo US Dream which is a copy/similar pedal to the Suhr Riot. I bought a Riot and actually had a hard time deciding which one I liked better. Ultimately decided the Suhr had an edge in every position and pushed the amp more for amazing harmonics.

That being said, the Joyo US Dream was a fraction of the cost and really sounded great with quite a bit of Reverb–cool ambient tones there! I would say if you don't have a lot of funds, the Joyo pedals are a great route to go (to be fair, my opinion is based on just one experience.)

Thats right....I forgot you had one of those at one time....Yeah, Im looking to build a decent Budget board lol....trying to get away from using a processor at times....may actually use both by using an A-B switch though....

I think there is a time and place for processors–some love them and some hate them. I was a huge fan of the Line 6 POD stuff, then went to V-Amp (IMO, best one for the cheap used prices) and finally settled with a Boss GT. However, after getting back into tube amps only using pedals this time I haven't turned on my Boss since (probably should at night to practice lol.)

For me, my line up of Pedals through a Fender Tube Amp gives me the tones I always wanted but could never create through any processors. That being said, what works for me does not work for everyone else.

With your Church's Vox AC, I think some of the Joyo Pedals could really make it sing. I can only really recommend the US Dream–but I think that one along with a Chrunch, Reverb, Chorus should be good.

Re: Looking for opinions.....

I have a bunch the pedals are just fine the power connection is mounted to the circuit board and is prone to snap off.
The pedal itself is just fine.

The only problem i have had is the power connectors breaking

Re: Looking for opinions.....

I have a number of JOYO pedals:
Sweet Baby
Deluxe Crunch
Tremolo
American Sound
British Sound
Noise Gate

The Noise Gate is worthless. For a simple tremolo, the Joyo works well. The Sweet Baby and Deluxe Crunch are great pedals and quiet as a mouse. The American Sound is a tremendous Fender modeling pedal (from Blackface to Tweed). It is somewhat 'hissy', particularly @ higher gain settings, but great tone while you're playing. I'm not a big Marshall fan, so I wasn't a fan of the British Sound...it too hisses. I've listened to videos of the Tech21 Blonde, which is what the JOYO Amer. Sound has 'copied' and seems like it hisses as well.

All (except the NG) JOYOs I own, I would highly recommend!

Re: Looking for opinions.....

Cheap jacks & switches, best for leaving on all the time & permanently positioned on a board. The dc socket is recessed deep on some, gonna need long barrel dc plugs or gonna have to drill the hole bigger on the enclosure for one to fit. The delay pedals are NOT analog but based around a pt80 concept with filters on the output to get dirtier repeats. The flanger though is analog i think. Some of these hiss since the op amps arent low noise, changing those to audio grade ones should help, most of these are smd designs so modding them is near impossible since the pcb traces are weak as well. Overall, cheaply made copies of popular circuits, a step up from behringer though & durable than dano plastic bodies, biyang is also an option to consider along with these.

Totally agree! They only make pedals copies cheaper. This is not another company making clones cheaper (the same components as in original), but installing cheap resistors, caps etc. Interesting fact is that if they put the high quality components they'd be better than original, still with big profit. So, what's the point JOYO ?

Recently I got into contacts with few Chinese and Taiwan companies which make e.g. knobs, switches and after estimated calculation of big amount of components order as Joyo - their cost of making pedals is circa 4$ per one effect.

Better than the originals is debatable ;) I really enjoyed my Joyo US Dream but the Suhr Riot beat it in every way through my tube amp–the Joyo could not push the sustain harmonics out unless I tapped for the harmonics, something the Suhr Riot did with ease. Better components would definitely make an improvement–but "better" is pretty subjective. lol

But I do agree that they could still make huge profits and make a better product that last longer.

Re: Looking for opinions.....

The circuits they copy are good to great sounding ones, so their stuff does sound generally good. Their Dr.J & the new ironman series lineup are supposedly better quality than their older lineup, the prices are higher on those as well.

In any case the theme here(joyo/behringer/dano etc) is dump it when it breaks, replacements are not expensive. Fixing some of the smd ones can cost more in labour charges than the pedal itself. Frankly thats the present theme with most all consumer grade electronic products in the market these days around the globe.

Re: Looking for opinions.....

How big a liability is a plastic pedal enclosure, anyway? Has anyone ever broken an actual pedal housing? (Metal cases are cool and all, and they provide some shielding, but they don't do much to prevent switches from breaking or pots from going bad.)

Maybe just an aesthetic thing? Cheap thin plastic would break very easily but thick plastic you would really have to try and break it IMO

Re: Looking for opinions.....

I've got a bunch of Joyo pedals and a bunch of Mooer pedals. I like them all for what they do and what they cost. At some point, most of them will be replaced on my board with something else, but for now they are exactly what I need. Great sounding pedals at a low price point.

Re: Looking for opinions.....

I have cracked old Boss stompboxes, as well as old Ibby pedals from the 80s- plastic and metal. And I've killed several switches.

These little mini pedals need to be seriously beefed up for me...e.g. xotic.

Re: Looking for opinions.....

I've got Trey's old Joyo(thanx yet again!),it's solid & sounds really good!

One day I'd like to try one of their "heavier" models, but it's a damn fine piece, indeed!!!

Wouldn't hesitate to get another one(or 3),FWIW!!!

:D

Most welcome dude! Happy another forum bro could enjoy it! (went from like 13 dirt boxes down to 4 and then back to 5 currently lol)

For the price, they are really hard to beat from a cost standpoint. If money is no option then I'd say there are better things out there but they definitely can sound really good!

Re: Looking for opinions.....

Is this like a white suburban sort of current contemporary christian service, or a southern black baptist kinda deal?

Re: Looking for opinions.....

Re-lidge-in is not a permissible topic.
